Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our awesome Sigma Finance team!

Based in Toronto and reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for legal entity financial and statutory reporting, tax compliance, analysis of results and supporting the finance organization globally.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the role include:

Financial & statutory reporting

  • Provide support related to accounting for income taxes and related disclosures
  • Preparing financial statements in accordance with the Company’s reporting requirements and analyzing financial results
  • Cash forecasting and trending
  • Regional/department reporting
  • Compiling KPIs, such as DSO, DPO and other financial metrics to assist the business manage its’ operations and finances
  • Statutory reporting, for example, Statistics Canada filings
  • Various other projects and duties as assigned from time to time, including due diligence on mergers and acquisitions, special projects and systems

Tax compliance

  • Manage the Company’s international income tax compliance efforts for all entities by liaising with professional services providers
  • Ensure the Company’s internally prepared entity financial statements are compliant with domestic and foreign requirements and regulations
  • Prepare tax working papers to support amounts presented in income tax returns
  • Manage the Company’s income tax provision by liaising with professional service providers
  • Manage the Company’s annual Scientific Research and Experimental Development (“SRED”) process and liaise with external experts and internal technical resources to ensure filings are completed one time and to a high standard
  • Assist in preparation of transfer pricing documentation in support of the Company’s transfer pricing methodologies
  • Ensure intercompany legal agreements are in place and reflect the business terms applicable to intercompany transactions
  • Ensure all domestic HST and PST returns are filed on a timely basis
  • Manage the Company’s U.S. State and Local tax compliance, and ensure all sales and income tax returns are filed on a timely basis
  • Manage the Company’s European and Asian compliance with various other international value added taxes (“VAT”)

Required qualifications for the role

  • Certified Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or Certified General Accountant qualification with experience in income and use tax compliance and reporting.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • An analytical mind and approach to problem solving
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite, including being extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand complex business operations
  • Ability to clearly articulate risks and opportunities and present analysis and business cases to senior management
  • A proactive approach with a constant desire for effecting improvement

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated success in managing assigned tasks and projects from inception to completion

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience with multi-entity structures and the taxation of partnerships an asset Experience with financial applications, preferably EPICOR, and FRx
  • Experience with international operations
  • Experience with transfer pricing scenarios
  • Experience with Canadian and UK SRED/ITC claims
